African Fertility Fetish Mukuyi statue, VOODOO, PUNU tribe, Gabon

Very nice female PUNU fetish fertility statue. She sits on a rolled-up goat skin and is surrounded by all kinds of magical attributes.
The statue has a space in the abdomen, where magical objects and potions could be inserted by the medicine man. Everything to promote fertility, for a couple, the livestock, or for asking the spirits for a good harvest.
The statue has a very typical, exceptionally fine elaborate hairdo and a two-tone face. The sculpture is decorated with red, black and white kaolin, but time and use has faded the colours a bit.

A PUNU statue embodies the close relationship between the world of the living and the dead in African beliefs.
The number and position of the scarification differs depending on style or ethnic group. These distinctive features, named mabinda, were made for children around the age of 10 to 14.

The statue shows several signs of wear, but is in good condition
